A God of Love
Creator God –
You have sculpted each of us in the image of love. You have given us the power to share your love, or to lock it away, hidden even from ourselves. Sometimes we forget that the choice is ours – to take love, to give love, to be love.
God of Mystery –
We have been told that you never change, yet you change us. You walked this Earth and showed us that love can be quiet and small and that love can be angry and powerful.
God of the Margins –
Our feet are aching, but you tell us to keep marching.
Our lungs are tired, but you tell us to keep singing.
Our bodies are broken, but you tell us to keep on living.
God our Mother –
You are with us when love has caused our hearts to break. You hold us when love has been stolen from us. When the whole world has been stolen from us. And you tell us that it’s okay to not be okay.
God the Source of everything beautiful –
How soon we forget that your love goes on forever. That when we look away, you are still there. That when we run away you are still here.
After all this time, may we finally believe that you could love someone like us.
Amen.
